Bowl against anyone anywhere

Xbowling was the first app to give bowlers the ability to play head to head, in real time, with others players around the world. The app connected directly to each bowling alleys computer system allowing us to track scores as quickly as they were displayed on the bowling lanes screen. Players could complete bowling challenges and make wagers with one another, earning points they could then redeem in app and directly with in each bowling alley.

The app gave bowling alleys unique and previously unknown insights about their customers (who mostly paid with cash). It also increased food and pros shop transactions.

Early concepts

Some early logo and screen explorations using the strike “X” mark. Early concepts played with the idea of making the app feel more like a video slot machine, but eventually decided against focusing on the “wagering” aspect of the app. Also, due to limited phone storage and restrictive app download sizes the first version of the app used limited texture patterns to keep the overall file size down.
