When traffic is bad, I cut through downtown Hayward on my way to work. Every time I pass by the old Hayward City Hall building, built in 1930, I want to just stop and stare. The architecture is striking, and just a little haunting, especially when its foggy.
Old Mill On The Hayward Shorline
Every day, on my way into San Mateo, I pass by an old barn/mill on the edge of the Hayward Shoreline salt flats. It is an amazing structure that catches your eye each time you pass by, because you are amazing that it has not fallen over yet. Not exactly sure what it was used for but my assumption is that its an old salt mill. This week I decided it was about time I pull off the freeway and explore the place. Hope you enjoy.
What place do you pass by every day and need to go explore? Get out there and take some photos of it and post a link to it here.
Fields of Gold
On Sunday, France and I drove out to Del Valle Lake with our friends. The fields were solid gold and there was not one cloud in the blue sky. Of course the ment that we had to pull over every 100 yards and snap a photo.
Graffiti, Murals & Urban Art
Spent yesterday with Karla and Francesca, exploring the Mission in San Francisco. We have been to the Franklin Square area many times to pick up fabric, gear and work events. This time we went to explore, see the various murals and of course do a mini photo shoot with France.
Found a great retaining wall piece (while chasing after France) that had lots of little details and textures. You can find it on Florida St. just past Coffee Bar and right before 17th.
The Calumet Mural by Sirron Norris is an instant eye catcher, spanning both street sides of the camera shop. You could easily spend all afternoon taking in this mural.
The sidewalks and streets were full of small pieces and even the posters and stickers were amazing and made you want to stop and closely example every light post, pole and stop sign.
Here's to Exploring
Woke up early this morning and drove into the city for the "Run or Dye" 5K, only to find out that the event is not until tomorrow. After having a good laugh, Karla and I decided to spend the morning exploring and taking photos. With as busy as life can get some times, it is nice to have unexpected moments to just embrace life and explore. A chance to find a gem, hidden right in front of our eyes, and in a place we would least expect it.
